Heuristima software is made available in a number of standard configurations that are primarily based on the size of the user's business enterprise. The standard configuration sizes are denoted by a model number or model letter. Each software product configuration size is defined in terms of one or more entities that are relevant to the respective product. The price lists below express the maximum numbers to which these entities may grow for each size. Price is determined by choosing the model whose entity maximums are sufficient for one's business enterprise. The notes following each price list define the entity as well as the rules for how the system determines the population of each entity.
PROSPAC Price List
Routings: The number of routings consists of not only those associated with shop work orders, but also those to which no shop work order is currently assigned. At point of order release, each shop work order is assigned a separate routing. This means, for example, if two shop work orders for the same part number and same manufacturing engineering (ME) revision code exist, then two separate, but identical, routings will be present in the routing files. Also when a shop work order is deleted from the system files, its routing remains if it is the last remaining routing for a part number and ME revision code. These "orphan" routings are called PLAN ONLY's. Operations: The number of operations is the cumulative number of operations among all routings in the routing file. Machines: The number of machines consists of all resources for which you wish PROSPAC to created detail schedules, and which will be called out in the shop work order routings. PROSPAC generates schedules only for those machines defined in the routing database. These include not only your machine tools, but possibly also work stations that are labor intensive, such as hand-buff or deburr, as well as inspection stations, and your principal outside process vendors. Although there are some very special circumstances where both machines and their operators are scheduled as separate resources, in general you should not count your crew size in this total. Employees: This number must include all direct labor employees who can report time completed on operations defined in the routings. This is the one PROSPAC entity for which an absolute requirement does not exist. If the number of direct-labor employees is zero, PROSPAC,s scheduling function remains as efficacious as before, but some of its Performance Evaluation functions and some of its Timekeeping functions are either obtunded or unavailable. Activities: When PROSPAC generates schedules for a machine, it dynamically creates the numerical equivalent of a machine Gantt chart. Sometimes we collectively call these the scheduling "engine's" Gantt chart files. In addition it is probable, even likely, that various kinds of "prescheduled activities" will be placed into these Gantt chart files that arise out of parts of PROSPAC that do not include its scheduling "engine". The number of activities, therefore, consists of all the operations which PROSPAC's scheduling engine can possibly schedule, plus all prescheduled activities that might be needed. The first number can never be greater than the cumulative number of operations among all routings. The second number is often more difficult to assess. A wildly conservative guess is to estimate it to be equal to the first number. One might note that the maximum number of activities in the price list is twice the maximum number of operations. However prescheduled activities never include holidays, vacations or scheduled plant shutdowns. PROSPAC uses a completely different mechanism to express these events. |
